5th grade limericks

The children in 5th are reading Matilda, by Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl found limericks very funny and he wrote a few in Matilda. The children studied this type of poetry and its rhyming pattern. They worked in pairs to write a limerick about the characters in the book. Here are some of them. They´re great!

There once was a teacher called Miss Honey
who wants to teach everybody.
Then Miss Trunchbull came
on the inside she is small like a grain,
but in the end kids will have to study.

- Dolo Casasco and Caro Weihmuller.

Something we all know about Miss Honey
is that she doesn´t like money.
Miss Honey likes to teach
and is as sweet as a peach,
that´s why she is so funny.

- Fran Lopez Guerra and Cande Ibañez Frocham

I have a friend whose name is Miss Honey
and she is very funny.
If she is your teacher,
she is like a beautiful creature.
Miss Honey is sweet as a bunny.

- José Bonnani and Manolo Gonzalo

We are all sure that Harry
is not like Miss Honey.
He is big and fat,
he wears a hat,
he loves to make money.

- Jime Aldasoro and Coco Torres Moscón
